As a professional lash extension technician, the work you do in the beauty industry is rated on how amazing you make your clients look. However, another aspect that’s just important to customer satisfaction is how long their eyelash technicians stay looking good and as beauty courses teach us, an effective lash cleaning routine is central to achieving it. Eyelash extension courses can show you the right technique!
So, with this in mind, here we look at the simple three-step process required to maintain the look of your client’s lashes. The great thing about it is that it only takes 5-10 minutes to complete, and by advising your clients to carry it out, your lash installations will get the great reviews you deserve!
Step One - Removing The Makeup
Good beauty courses will invariably state that removing makeup at the end of each day is good practice for your skin and eye health. The same goes for maintaining lash extensions. Your clients should wet their eye area with water at a lukewarm temperature before massaging oil-free makeup remover along the upper and lower lids.
Once you're happy that the area has been covered completely, it should be washed off with more lukewarm water and dabbed with a soft towel until dry.
Step Two - Apply An Oil-free Foaming Cleanser
The next part involves the application of a foaming cleanser of your choice. This should be done with a clean cleanser brush, which needs to be gently swiped using a downward motion over both the lash line and the eyelid. Again, once happy that the job is complete, the area should be rinsed using fresh water until all traces of the product are gone.
As beauty courses state, it’s important to brush in one smooth motion in a single direction, as doing so both up and down will likely damage the extensions.
Step Three - Dry & Brush
The last of the three steps involves drying the area fully. You should use either a microfibre or lint-free towel to pat the area free of moisture, before allowing the air to dry them fully. You’re now ready for the very last part of the process - brushing.
Brushing your lashes with a clean mascara wand will allow each individual lash to be separated and fluffed up for a better look. Beauty courses always include this vital step, as it will ensure none of the lashes is able to stick together and cause discomfort.
