At OCA, we're known for offering the best online courses Australia has to offer, but we're also a company that wants to give back to a society that has given us so much. Today, we're here to tell you about the latest charity we've partnered with - Lily House - and the work the Queensland-based organisation does to help women in crisis in Australia.
What Percentage Of Women Experience Domestic Violence In Australia?
Of course, domestic violence is just one of the threats to the safety of women, but that alone is commonplace across the country. In fact, 23% of women have experienced it in one form or another since turning 15, and much work is done to help and support them by organisations like Lily House.
What Support Services Are Available To Victims In Australia?
Several organisations share the common aim of supporting women in Australia, with The Good Shepherd and Australians Investing in Women representing just two of them. However, we're proud to tell you about our association with Lily House and the fact that we provide free online courses to women in need to help empower their personal development.
Following on from our work with Siem Reap, we're offering much-needed training to women across Australia. Be it a digital marketing course for a new business an ambitious lady wants to start or aged care courses for a career in the industry. We're providing it free as part of the scheme.
So, who is Lily House? Let's take a look.
Who Is The Charity Lily House?
Lily House employs a strength-based approach to support women from all walks of life, with their in-house, holistic program focusing on physical health, as well as social, emotional and spiritual health. Essentially, their aim is to help them improve their lives and their children.
As well as providing accommodation and assistance for domestic violence victims, Lily House offers support and training in life skills to allow them to be strong mothers and enjoy long, fulfilling lives. Other areas in which the organisation provides support are rehabilitation for those with substance abuse problems, as well as reunification with estranged children, and support for expectant mothers.
